Old books that make me feel new

Just realised that whenever my life is exceptionally quiet or exceptionally exciting, I default to reading Dick Francis books. So when I need pace by proxy it’s there, and when I need something easy to follow – also there.

But it does make me realise that right now I’m reading a lot of Dick Francis so either my life is too quiet, or not quiet enough. Not quiet enough would be my bet.

Tore apart some old furniture last night to make room for a desk I can actually work at. I’m in two minds about it – very excited to be prepping for study again, but also wondering how many of my braincells are still kicking around and whether I can do this. Very therapeutic though, kicking old chipboard to bits.

Not another blog…

Welcome to my brand new blog where I will talk about all the minutiae and trivia in my life and you get to hear why I’m entering the stage of life known as mid-life crisis. Or maybe I’m already there!

I thought I already went through this mid-life crisis thing when I was 30 – turns out because I did that so young, I get 2 bites of the cherry. Oddly happy about this as it turned out pretty well the last time out. That time out, I left my going-nowhere job to go back to university to study for the career I’d always wanted. Got the career and have loved it for 10 years straight, but in the last 2 years I’m starting to wonder what’s next and also if I’m on some kind of weird 12-year cycle.

Anyway. Why start a blog? Because the likelihood of anyone reading this is minimal with all the new blogs starting everyday and because I’d always believed in the strength of the printed word. So if I want to make changes – even small ones –  then I figure if I write it down and see it out there, I might actually do something about it.

So how will I write this? Well I thought I’d just take one day at a time and see what I have to say about nothing much at all and remind myself occasionally of all the things I should be doing and seeing if that works along the way. I plan on writing about key issues of the day – like how will the world cope when all the 60W lightbulbs are used up and we all have to use energy saving bulbs? Judging by the BBC news, the world will end http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14743785

Should be fun – let’s see how long I can keep it up…
